The Joyo California Sound is too dark sounding for my taste too, with too little high frequency content let through, but if you are after a heavy dark sounding distortion it would be great in my opinion. The sound of a barking, driven 57 Fender 'Tweed' Deluxe is a hard thing to really nail in any simulation because EQ is not straightforward because as I hear it the EQ changes more the Amp is being driven, but this little unit does it pretty well.!.

You can’t beat today’s technology! Seriously, I tried miking up a Deluxe Reverb and A/B comparing with this unit - couldn't really hear any significant difference! This very versatile compact pedal comes packed with a ton of tone-shaping options. By the way if you place the Sweet Baby in front of the JOYO American you get a BB King Style Sound overdrive very Blues. If you place the JOYO Sweet Baby in front of this British you will get more drive and that's the sound I was after like an AC/DC type of sound. I have little opportunity to test it, but if you have a separate equalizer pedal that Joyo, I think you have the best sound configuration.

Classic American style vintage high gain classic sounds can be sculpted with 6 different controls on this pedal. This will be awesome!!! I have been looking for a Good simulation of a 57 Tweed Deluxe for ages every since Line 6 failed to include it in the Pod HD. I have tried The Blackstar HT Dual (sounds great, but not enough distortion for me, very noisy when cranked and doesn't get on well with other effects), a Boss GP-20 Amp Factory (just awful), the Boss ME-70 (amazing multi effects unit, but the amp sounds lack depth), and the Line 6 HD 500X (even better multi effects and the amp sounds are terrific, but I don't think they've nailed Marshall sounds). The Joyo California Sound Pedal is a complex guitar distortion effect stompbox reportedly based a Tech21 pedal of a similar name. It's technically an 'amp simulator' meaning that it's designed to be plugged directly in to any loudspeaker, PA system, or recording interface - and simulate a classic Fender tube amp. Whilst it has all the EQ similarities of a Marshall it was no way as accurate as the American Pedal which is a remarkable simulation of a Fender Deluxe. I have used many sims such as Vox (too Trebly) and Korg and Podfarm 2 (over-processed and too digital sounding) but this is hands down THE BEST I have ever heard.

Don, you need to start listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers and SoCal skatepunk! Mostly I have it always on after a compressor before the amp input rather than in the FX loop.... love it. On the other hand, the excellent EQ and voicing of the pedal allowed my two amps to be more flexible in their overall sound, giving very good equivalents to several of the classic Fender amps, and in particular, alleviating the definitely dark character of the HRDv. I have used it through a variety of amps ... big tube, small tube , high end solid state and old battered solid state.... with vintage SSS and modern HSH guitars...it always delivers. Does it sound Marshall like well yes it does rather like a Plexi circa 68.

The pedal powered up ok, the fault seemed to lie in either the input or output jack. There’s a three-band EQ as well as dedicated Level and Drive knobs, plus there’s a unique Voice dial that opens your tone up to more sonic possibilities. I've found it, the holy grail. The Voice control seems to control the Drive on the mids. I got my Joyo AC13 AC Tone and I had a good go at it. Can be used for direct recording into your computer or put in front of your amp to give your sound a new character with a click of a button. Yes, so1om, I was interested by this Joyo California, but I read bad reviews about the spread, the progressivity of the settings, so I didn't go further - but reading you, one day, I'll find one for curiosity.

Disabling it will result in some disabled or missing features. As I pushed the Voice and Drive of the pedal, I was also able to get sounds very similar to the BB15 using it's own tube-based overdrive, a quality which has led many people to argue that the BB15 is possibly the best Fender amp produced in decades. Why? The Boogie, the Rectifier, triple Rectifier. Initially I was a bit disappointed with it. If I had one, I would lower slightly acute in Joyo and remonterais presence frequencies (between 3k, 4k and 6k see 10khz) to give some air to the sound and bring out additional harmonics that Joyo not necessarily. I have these specifically because the actually sound like the amps I own, meaning the American does an excellent clean fender sound, like nearly indistinguishable from a Deluxe Reverb, and the AC Tone does the VOX AC chimey, edgy clean thing very well, though it does sound better pushing a bit harder.
