The red Marshall labeled tube in V1 is a JJ, just re-branded. I had it at my amp tech twice and it still shuts down once it while. I purchased a DSL40CR about a month ago (birthday present). Once you start adding more the boards more problems can occur unfortunately, try the C less issues and kicks ass.

At this point I think what would help determine the cause is for the owners of these amps to identify their amp's month/year of production.

Over a few days I noticed the crackling and popping noise has become more pronounced and a bit louder.

I for one got soooo fed up with my so called mint DSL 40C that I actually gave it away to a friend...seriously. Also the warranty of the store was so complex, even they themselves preferred to exchange the amp for another one, rather than sending it for a repair. I will never own another one and that’s for sure... How do explain those of us that have one and no issues then?

If you didn’t try new power tubes then that is likely the issue based on your description of the problem. I’ve owned the Marshall DSL40CR amplifier for 12 months now and it has become my main amplifier for loud gigs. It’s a shame because I think the amp is a home run without these issues. I bought an expensive amplifier that is noisy and I need a solution to my problem. I personally love my DSL40CR, but it has some super sloppy manufacturer issues that had to be fixed (and still a few others that can't be fixed that definitely bug me). Meaning, if you bought used, they screw you. Just do a google search it will come up. Your description exactly matches this common problem with tube amps that people have been experiencing for decades.
You dont hear this about any other amp.

Good luck. The reason I started this thread was to hear if people have actually had any good experience with these specific amps. Or is this a DSL midi issue? Buy a ClassicTone Transformer, nice price and built like a vintage transformer with great customer service.

I usually ride the OD1 green channel since it does the Marshall thing really well and cleans up relatively well with the vol knob back. I’m very happy with my Marshall’s.

I broke down and ordered a new DSL40C, hope I don't regret it later.

I love the amp other than the reliability issues.

I can not send the amplifier back due to the rules of the customs of Russia.

They seemed to have neutered the bass out of clean and crunch on the new one...probably to better balance with the thinner sounding lead 1&2. I agree. Marshall has been at the forefront of British rock amplifiers since the 1960s, with everyone from Jimi Hendrix to Slash to Zakk Wylde being avid users of their models.

That helps me build up my confidence to go for another one of the same model.

Hello all, new to the forum. Marshall has a 5 year warranty, I believe (maybe 10 year), on all amps for original owner. In short, the amp responds fine when setting things up...but it it becomes inconsistant as the session wears on. When i first got the amp (bought it off ebay as a refurb) it had issues from the start. Will be repaired by "qualified".
