Repair their forgotten memories with hidden clues and secrets. By reading the movie plot it already caught my attention. This serves the game’s purposes nicely, as it allows the game to basically just do whatever the hell it wants in the interest of suspense or twists or reality-bending. This idea of transferring our minds into computers is more or less the premise of the game Transference. Combine that with a few puzzles that are so tacked on and gamey that it’s embarrassing and it’s not uncommon to feel frustrated or annoyed when you get confused or stuck. Anyway, my take is that Raymond has been making this machine since his years at university and he got fired for this Walter Case thing, so he's got fixated about making it anyway for his own at his own garage. The world building is expertly managed, and in the short time I played, I really connected with the characters. Collect the evidence of a family's history to choose how you repair their lives. Many cutscenes and video logs are viewed in the same odd, theater like letterbox that you occasionally see in VR games, and it’s rare that you see the in-game character models long enough or close enough for them to make an impact past what’s available in traditional media.
Mind you, this sequence is presented in live action rather than rendered in-game, so it feels a bit like a classic FMV. Transference is about a family struggling with some serious issues.
Along the way you’ll have to deal with shifting perspectives both physical and metaphorical, your usual blend of psychological twists, and the occasional appearance of a nameless digital horror that will often terrify and stun you, before disappearing without a trace. From its tech singularity premise to its balance of story and gameplay, the game manages to craft an experience that’s immersive and interactive without feeling like another walking simulator.
The game was tested on a PC running Windows 10, with an 8GB NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1070 fitted on a 4th Generation Intel i7 4790 3.6Ghz CPU and topped with 16GB of RAM. Navigate a dream-like home filled with secrets you can discover. Parents Guide. Synopsis Plot Keywords Transference is a psychological thriller where you come face to face with a fractured family as you freely explore their minds. Unfortunately, Transference’s gameplay is nothing to write home about. I like that there’s an actual story instead of some vague, wishy-washy ‘make up your own meaning’ tale. Learn their stories and decide how they will live on. The puzzles are pretty intuitive but it’ll still take you some time to pick up and inspect every item to work out if you need it for the game. Coupled with the many video logs spread throughout the game from the perspective of each family member and you quickly find yourself engrossed in an interesting story about a family falling apart and a father desperately trying to keep them together by making progress on the simulation we’re currently exploring. Many of the games star a new Princess Zelda and an evil plot cooked up by Ganon that must be stopped by the hero Link using the Master Sword and the power of the Triforce. While there’s not too much exposition and you kinda have to piece together the story, there *is* a central narrative, and you’ll work out most of the major details while being a little confused about some of the specifics.
