Flux density is the measure of the number of magnetic lines of force per unit of cross-sectional area. The tesla (symbol: T) is a derived unit of the magnetic induction (also, magnetic flux density) in the International System of Units.

Further, magnetic flux is basically used to describe the effects of the magnetic force on something occupying a given area. A flux density of one Wb/m 2 (one Weber per square metre) is one Tesla (T). While the total amount of the flux produced by a magnet is important, we are more interested in how dense or concentrated, the flux is per unit of cross-sectional area.
