I have not found the octaver sim on the B3n to be very good (it's a bit "warbly" due to latency and does not track that well) - I much prefer the clean tone and tracking on my dedicated analogue octave pedal. Besides I believe he's just picked his B3n up in the effects FS for much less than the new price The names are used only to illustrate sonic characteristics and do not indicate any affiliation with the Zoom Corporation or Zoom North America. But I did read several threads on Excellent synths, rock sounds, distorsions, reggae sounds. We're talking about proprietary modeling code, not buried MIDI spec or controller spec, and it's probably quite illegal. The former B3 allowed one to plug a Zoom FS01 foot switch into the expression pedal jack and do just that. I've never tried a B3N but have tried a few of the previous generations and have never been impressed with the distortion or amp models, octave or phasers. The built in looper is easy and intuitive, & the ability to stack 3 effects at once gives you a lot of flexibility. Gotta looper and a tuner and prolly more than I even know. I went to compare them to GuitarCenter today, A/B'ed them for about a hour, so if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me! I quite like one of the synth effects on my ms60b but it's pretty basic, I seem to have a bit more breadth to play with. Most of them I just leave as is. I found that I never used all the stuff at the same time and I was always tempted to play with other effects but never wanted to spend $100 a pop for the pleasure of playing. I own some of the biggest and best bass amps ever made. to be honest I find it really difficult to hear slight nuances when it comes to tone. This bass pedal has countless amp, cabinet, and stompbox effects that you can use on stage or in the studio. Out of the box awesome! The power supply fits securely snugged into a recessed plug opening. I am not a big bass effects person, but my signal chain had grown to the point that I wanted to simplify. Store Hours, If you have any questions, please call us at (800) 222-4700. I found the effect sampling ( many of the most sought effects by bassists can be found here) to be as good/usable as any of the individual name brand pedals I've used for decades. Zoom clearly concentrated on improving the quality of the amp, cab, and drive algorithms with a ground-up re-coding of all their modeling, and IMHO they are all improved - especially the drives, amp & cab sims. When it comes to what really matters though, it's all about the software / algorithms running on those chips. Tuner works as well as on B3, but displays on screen, not on dedicated LEDs, so visibility is slightly worse. Lol! The looper, rhythm patterns, and delay effects can all be synchronized using a tap tempo function. On the pc it works very very easily and the rename function is much easier to use. Feels like owning every classic pedal on the market. Two great things about the B3 multi effect are it's sound and it works like a stompbox. 5501 U.S. Hwy 30 W, Fort Wayne, IN 46818 [quote name='PaulWarning' timestamp='1509220039' post='3397432'] Hey guys, So I'm just looking for some advice really. This rig is the best I have used so far, does everything I need and more. Great sound and easy to use. All other effects from this category sounded more harsh, somehow mid-lacking, but i suppose they just need more tweaking and combining with other effects to get good results. I'm not much into fuzz and distortion, and the B3 had plenty of those, but I also am finding some nice subtle effects like bass boost, compression, and some nice amp simulations like the Fender flip top. This guys fun, sounds really good for digital stuff. [quote name='jimfist' timestamp='1505259877' post='3370632'] They still haven't added any GK stuff yet, which you'd have to believe is in the works, knowing Zoom's history. The B3n’s simple layout and controls make for faster and more intuitive editing. Only thing that changed to (anyhow) worse, is that you don't see all selected effects at once, and have to scroll through them, but thats easy one-button operation. I have to agree with all the positive reviews of this multi-effects pedal. I'm a newbie to the pedal world and this seemed like a good compromise between price & performance. Interesting question. Zoom also wanted to improve switching and navigating the pedal, and they've done this. Easy to use (havent read the manual yet), very good tones with harmonics, attacks, release, etc. I'll b able to a/b it against my ms60b but to be honest I find it really difficult to hear slight nuances when it comes to tone so i think I'd quite like to hear other points of view. However, I am a bigger fan of the blending in a touch of auto bass wah (BassA-Wah) with some mild overdrive to give the tone some movement, depending on how hard I dig in with my playing. It also enhanced my keyboard sound. This device is fabulous. That's a tough one for me. But I may have a chance to check this for you at the end of next week as I'm meeting up with another bassist who has a B3 then and if we get a chance we could certainly have a go at A/Bing through the same amp and bass. The 3 size just doesn't allow for it. Since this thread is the one getting all the attention right now, I'll post this G5n information here rather than the other "B5n" thread that was started a while ago. Not separate. Wish I could be of more help. B3n is missing some features from B3: XLR output. resident B3/B3n expert (well certainly a lot more expert so than me!) I'm really enjoying it. You can dial in any sound or simply compress and use the sansamp and you are good to go in any studio environment...... overall awesome product, mostly because of how nice it works as a recording interface; if you monitor it with the stereo output and record via usb you get a lossless recording; Tried just about every multi-effects box out there and nothing really clicked with a bass. The B3n is pre-loaded with 67 high-quality stompbox DSP effects, including 19 dynamics and filter effects, 15 overdrive and distortion effects, 17 modulation effects, 11 delay and reverb effects and more. Overall, it is a useful reminder to check the specs on what you are actually buying and not rely on the fact that the device has a similar name. With a lighter touch, the damped wah effect adds a hint of low growl, and when I dig in it gets more aggressive and abrasive. Pasted as rich text. Until now. Its three independent LCD screens display your entire effects chain at a glance, and its tactile knobsand switches give you effortless control over adding, editing, deleting, or changing the order of effects. Zoom Firmware Editor application is a self-executable jar-file. On the surface the pedal is simple to operate and is controls are logically laid out. Happy customers, one piece of gear at a time! Zoom also releases new amp, cab and fx models on a regular basis (though sort of slow in coming at the moment for the B3n - the G3n/G5n have had a TON of added items since their inception). I use compression and Chorus as a bass player and that is pretty much it, maybe a touch of autowah but I love the way this works. Of course every pedal takes time to learn. If you don't you'll miss a lot, and it's not too long. so far. I gave this 4.5 instead of 5 only because on one gig it freaked out and displayed 3 weird settings on the banks and was super loud and wouldn't turn off.
